During Dr. Sharon Derry‘s Design-Based Research graduate course, I designed and wrote an NSF research grant in consultation with the Museum of Life and Science in Durham, NC. The grant, titled “Ignite Learning: Developing Culturally Competent Tools to Evaluate Informal Science Learning Outcomes,” focused on the Museum’s Ignite Learning program and the families it serves. The purpose of the grant was to explore the implementation of an equity-focused evaluation framework at the Museum that would foster collaboration between program staff, researchers, and families.
